Maidstone Prison Philosophy Project – Reflection Event

On the 26th July 2023, Dr Jim Chamberlain will be running an event in John Pemberton LT A (Regent Court) between 12 and 3.30pm, to reflect on the completion of the Maidstone Prison Philosophy Project.

Dr Chamberlain, Teaching Associate in the Department of Philosophy at The University of Sheffield, has recently finished delivering a 10-week Philosophy course in Maidstone prison, working alongside Rachael Goodyer (PhD candidate at Harvard).

This has been a Knowledge Exchange project involving the Department of Philosophy and the charity Philosophy in Prison, with the aim of teaching Philosophy in an inclusive way by engaging in philosophical conversations with learners.

The event will be an opportunity for reflection on the course, teaching methodology involved, and any lessons learned for the future.

If you are interested in attending or you would like further information, please contact Dr Chamberlain. All are welcome, lunch and refreshments will be provided!
